Date is today's. Set it to 3/7/06 format.

Name is text and represents the name of your stock. Ticker represents the ticker symbol and is text. PPS is the price per share and is currency precision 4 or 5.Number is the number of shares you buy. It should be a number and precision 0.Total is the total amount of money you have invested in each stock. It is a formula and is equal to number of shares times pps. and can be filled down. To set cell attributes (characteristics of a cell - what makes it different from another cell) for whole columns go to format cells and say for example D (PPS) currency decimal places 4 or 5. For number say number decimal places 0 as it is a whole number and you can not own parts of a stock.

 

If you do not have the extra columns of New PPS, Change, and New Total, follow these directions to insert these columns.

 

Click on the letter F so that all of column F is highlighted. Go to Insert and let go on Insert Column. In F1 label this New PPS. Click on the letter F again and go to format cells and click on number make it currency, symbol choose $ and decimal places 2. Now click on G Insert Cells and label G1 Change in G2 you are going to type the formula  =F2-E2    this will give you the difference in your prices per shares. Then you need to hit enter.

Then you need to select cells starting with G2 down to your last cell where your last stock is and go to Edit and say Fill Down. Now in column H call it New Total in cell H1. Then in H2 put in the formula =D2*E2 and hit enter. Click on H at the top and go to Format and choose cells and make it currency decimal places 2 symbol $. Then, click on cell H2 and select all the rest of how many stocks you have in column H and go to Edit and say Fill Down. Below your last stock in H will be your Grand Total Total the formula =SUM(H2..Hthe number of your last stock)
